Countering Woke Ideology: Columbus, Ohio Conference, 2024

By Marquis Van De Mark

On Saturday, November 23rd, The Settlement Project Midwest Region, in collaboration with Turning Point USA, hosted a one-day seminar titled "Woke Ideology Critique and Counter Proposal" at the Yokoso Center in Columbus, OH. This event followed closely on the heels of the successful release of the publication by the same name, Woke Ideology Critique and Counter Proposal. The symposium was enriched by the presence of youth leaders, clear-minded and knowledgeable, who represent the promising cornerstone of our nation's future.

Dr. Frank Kaufmann, the founder of The Settlement Project and the author of the seminal work, journeyed from New York to present the teaching content. He explained the often confusing nature of woke ideology in ways that made it simple and clear. As Wokeism has captured educational, professional, and governmental sectors, his teachings aimed to arm attendees with the tools to discern and respond effectively to these pervasive cultural phenomena.

TP-post-re-Columbus-OHThe conference was a collaborative effort, with significant contributions from Jake Polling and Gabe Guidarini of Turning Point Action, along with that of Ohio TPUSA representative Mia McDougal. Other significant contributions came from the delegation from the Turkish American Association of Columbus, OH. Their involvement infused the event with energy, highlighting the benefits of solidarity among like-minded organizations in promoting discourse that favors truth and national unity over divisive ideologies.

The content of the seminar extended beyond mere critique; it included actionable counter-strategies. The Settlement Project, known for its commitment to cultural and religious inclusivity, once again demonstrated how individuals from vastly different backgrounds can share fundamental values and aspirations as Americans.

This symposium was far from a casual gathering for fun and entertainment. It was a strategic base for action for those invested in securing a good and healthy American future. The Columbus event showcased the power of youth leadership, the necessity of intergroup solidarity, and the pivotal role of informed dialogue in navigating the challenges posed by contemporary, destructive ideological currents.

The proceedings of this day will be made available as podcast content on sp12.org and related Settlement Media platforms, ensuring a broader reach for the insights shared.
