The Settlement Project Statement on the November 5, 2024 Presidential and Down-Ballot Election

The Settlement Project celebrates the outcome of the 2024 United States presidential and congressional elections. We call it good for both America and the world that Donald J. Trump was duly elected as the 47th President of the United States, and that his tenure will benefit from supportive gains in Congress.

We commend the efficiency and transparency of this year’s electoral process, which allowed for a timely and definitive declaration of results on election night. We pray for continued progress toward evermore trustworthy, fair, and transparent elections in America.

We call on all Americans to come together in a spirit of national unity and shared purpose. We pray for peace and hope to remain in the hearts of any whose preferred candidates were not successful. Please remain engaged and continue to contribute constructively as we seek good for all citizens. America’s strength lies in our special talent for unity across all diversity including diversity of thought and political opinion.

We are heartened by President-elect Trump’s commitment to healing divisions and working for all Americans. We hope this sentiment, combined with a steady return to family and community life, will guide the formation of his administration and will inform policy decisions in the coming years.

The challenges facing our nation are significant, but so too are the opportunities. We believe in the resilience and the uncommon hopefulness and public-mindedness of American people.

In this spirit, we offer our prayers for President-elect Trump, his family, and his team as they prepare to lead our nation. May they be granted wisdom, compassion, and strength in the monumental task ahead.

The Settlement Project remains committed to constructive engagement in the political process and cultural life, and to supporting initiatives that strengthen our communities and uphold our shared values. We look forward to working with leaders across the political spectrum to build a more prosperous, secure, and united America.
